Buenos días (Good morning) is how your kid might greet you once s/he enrolls for this language-learning workshop at the Spanish School, Fort. The summer workshop designed for children from four to six will include music, videos and games with a focus on learning grammar and building correct conversational skills. “On the cultural aspect, we have art, food, music and dance workshops,” says Anu Dalmiya, a former World Bank consultant, who founded the Spanish School in 2012. Every batch will have about eight to 10 students.

Activate your brain

According to the widely perpetuated urban legend, most or all humans only make use of 10 per cent of their brain. But here’s a workshop that will make your child’s grey cells tick faster. The Whole Brain Stimulation workshop for children between five and 15 is an activity designed to hone the learning ability in children, increase intelligence, concentration, intuition and sensory perception through brain games. Each session will cover:
- Ambidexterity (Left hand – right hand coordination)
- Brain Gym - Massaging certain points in the body to stimulate the brain along with a soft dance.
- Spatial Orientation - Spot the difference between two identical looking pictures to enhance visual observation.
- Blindfold Reading – Identify colours, numbers and alphabets blindfolded.

Be an all-rounder
How do you like the idea of learning a new activity each day? Think like an astronaut
How do you eat in space? Is it possible to cry in space? A workshop organised by the Academy of Future Xplorers helps young minds understand what life in zero gravity is like. The 12 sessions will touch on topics like science behind space technology, harnessing heat, electricity and magnets, the solar system and more. Kids will also learn about the history of space travel. This workshop has been designed by NASA and participants will get a certificate at the end of
the session.

Craft a pot

Do the Zumba
It’s time your child drops the video game, gets off the couch and gets moving. Attend a Zumba session tailored just for kids aged 6 and above. The workshop organised by Zumba education specialist Sucheta Pal will be more than just a dance class, where she will break down the steps, add games, activities and elements of the Spanish culture into the class structure. The classes will help your child develop a healthy lifestyle and build leadership, respect, self-esteem, memory, creativity and coordination.

Play with numbers

Does your kid have a hard time memorising multiplication tables or solving ‘problems’? Sign up for the i-Math workshop organised by mathematician Sudha Kumar that focuses on making the subject fun for children. The method encourages a child to think of multiple options to arrive at a solution, thereby sowing the seeds of thinking. The session will use stories games and other activities to make your kid fall in love with math.

Dance to Bollywood jazz
If you want to channelise your kid’s energy, dance could well be the answer. House of Wow, a performing space in Bandra, has organised a Bollywood Jazz Funk for the children this season. Darrshan Mehta, who has an international certification in Jazz and over 12 years of experience will conduct the workshop. To throw some light on Jazz Funk, the dance style has nothing to do with the sub genre of jazz music. This commercial dance style derives from Hip Hop. This one, will have a lot of Bollywood music, too.

Play alphabet-based games

Alphabet activities will make your child look at letters in an all new light. Spray for fun

Strengthen your bod
Can your little one stand on one foot and touch his/her nose?
