Petrolheads around the country went bonkers at the prospect of Nissan launching the GT-R in India, when the Godzilla was showcased donning its outgoing cloak at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year. And now, the dream is finally coming true as reports in the media suggest that the car will arrive on the country’s shores in its 2017 avatar on November 9.

Pre-bookings for this exotic monster of a car had already commenced last month. And indicating the final price tag on the GT-R, the token amount had been set at a handsome Rs 25 lakh. Non conformists would have flinched at that, wondering why someone would spend that sort of money.

But read about what the car has on offer and you might want to reconsider. Under the hood, Nissan’s high tech 3.8-litre, V6, 24-valve, twin-turbocharged engine that produces 570PS of power at 6,800rpm and 637Nm of torque. Handmade in a clean-room environment in Japan, the engine will transmit power to all four wheels via six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This powertrain drives the car to 100kmph from dead halt in under three seconds!

What’s more is that the car, donning its 2017 clothes, has also undergone a series of cosmetic changes to enhance its aerodynamics. A re-sculpted hood features on the car along with a new bumper, a V-motion grille and updated headlamp units with additional Daytime Running Light (DRL) setup, while the car looks pretty much unchanged from the rear. A set of slick Y-spoke wheels lends even more swagger to the car though.

In India, the GT-R will be offered in the European-spec ‘Premium Edition’ and will be available in the hues of Katsura Orange (new for 2017), Vibrant Red, Pearl Black, Storm White, Daytona Blue, Gun Metallic and Ultimate Silver. Set to be imported as a CBU, the car is expected to carry a price tag of a shade under Rs 2 crore (ex-shoroom).
