If you haven't tried craft beer or wish to know a stout from a porter, then sign up for the debut edition of The Craft Beer Weekender. Celebrating International Beer Day (August 5), the two-day festival will see participation from six breweries — Gateway Brewing Company, Doolally Taproom, White Owl Brewery, Independence Brewing Company, Effingut Brewerkz, and Brewbot Eatery and Pub Brewery (also, the host for the event). “The festival is our stand to showcase the love for craft beer and also, educate the patrons about the artisanal brews,” says Anand Morwani of Brewbot, who has curated the festival.

What's on offer
Pick from over 20 beers in styles including German Hefeweizen, Belgium Wit-bier, stouts, porters, IPAs (India Pale Ale), ciders and honey-based meads. “Most people find IPA too bitter, so, we've created a non-intimidating version with hops from America, Europe and New Zealand,” adds Morwani. The brews are priced at '250 per glass.
The carnival will feature a special food menu including sliders and poutine, along with a live grills counter and a sausage and hot dog stall. Guests can tuck into beer-infused food with desserts such as Stout and Chocolate Chip Waffles.

Learn the craft
While patrons can play beer pong over Rock and Alternative playlist, they can also enjoy a tour of the microbrewery every hour to learn the process of making craft beer. On the eve of the weekender, the venue will also host an interactive workshop, where guests learn about the history of beer, its types, the step-by-step process of brewing a beer, and also, enjoy beer tastings. Lastly, the patrons will also get a chance to pick one of the two beer styles put up for a vote. Post the festival, participating breweries will prepare their version of the winning style as the city's first crowdsourced craft brew.
