Daytona Beach: Aditi Ashok, whose travel schedule of the last two months has been exhaustive to say the least, with more than one trip back and forth between US, Europe and Asia earned the coveted LPGA membership. Though she fell short of full status, Aditi is guaranteed quite a few starts and invites as she has drawn praise from all quarters including legends like Annika Sorenstam, whose former caddies was on her bag this week, and the nine-time Major winner, Gary Player, who specially went to the range to see her practice at the Rio Olympic Games.

Aditi will be only the second Indian after Smriti Mehra to play on the LPGA with a membership. She will get a lot of starts on main Tour and can play the full Symmetra Tour, which is the second level Tour in US.

The 18-year-old Aditi, who won twice in successive starts on the Ladies European Tour in her Rookie season, shot a final round of 73 and ended at two-under for the five-round at Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying. She finished Tied-24 and just outside the Top-20 who got full status for 2017.

The top earned full status, while 21st to 45 earned LPGA membership and will get a limited number of starts depending the entries.

Not showing any signs of continent hopping, Aditi said, “It was a long week with a lot of ups and downs throughout the week,” said Ashok. “I think I could have done better, I finished just 2-under, but it is not bad.” Aditi posted rounds of 73-70-71-71-73.

She added, “The last couple weeks have been amazing starting with my win back home in India. I won last week in Qatar and moved up the Order of Merit and hopefully I can do well in Dubai next week and then it will be a good year.”

She leads the LET Rookie of Year rankings and is second on the overall Order of Merit with the last event of the season, Omega Dubai Ladies Masters coming up this week.
