Thiruvananthapuram: Celebrated filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who has completed his golden jubilee in the Malayalam film industry on Wednesday, began his 12th feature film. He says that he feels like doing his first one.

“If you ask me how I feel today, I will say, I feel like I am making my first film," Adoor told IANS in the midst of getting ready for the shoot of his latest Malayalam film titled "Pinneyum".

The 74-year-old Adoor as he is popularly known, in a departure from the routine, has cast the popular Mollywood pair of Dileep and Kavya Madhavan.

When asked why he went for a change and pat came the reply: " Everything is new, is it not, it all depends on what I need and this time I felt, this is what I needed.”

This time with the popular Dileep and Kavya paired together after a gap, Adoor's film tells a love story with a difference but will not have the ingredients seen in a typical love story.

The shoot began here, Wednesday morning in the capital city at a state owned institute conference hall and spotted in the small crowd was Dileep.

“Yes, I am definitely excited, as to act in a film of Adoor sir is a dream of any actor. I am happy," Dileep told IANS as he disappeared into the dressing room.

Adoor's new one comes after a gap of eight years, with the last one being "Oru Pennum Randaanum (A Climate for Crime)", which was a 115-minute long feature film released in 2008.

His career began in 1965 with a 20 minute short fiction film titled "A Great Day" and since then he has scripted and directed eleven feature films and about thirty short films and documentaries.

“We expect to complete the shoot in a month's time and the post production is being done here itself," added Adoor.

Among the others who will don the grease paint are Nedumudi Venu, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, KPAC Lalitha among others.

M.J. Radhakrishnan is the cinematographer and the film is produced by Baby Mathew.
