Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has finally reacted to his wife Twinkle Khanna's tweet apparently mocking the Khans for their flops after 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' broke the box-office jinx.

Twinkle Khanna had lauded her husband and National Award-winning actor Akshay Kumar's latest entertainer 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' by saying the Bollywood box-office needed it to break free from constipation.

"So even the box office needed this Toilet eventually to break free from its constipation -- 'Toilet: Ek Prem Kath'. Hit Hit Hooray," tweeted Twinkle, who is known on social media as Mrs Funnybones.

Twinkle Khanna's post hinted at the lukewarm performance of films like Ranbir Kapoor's 'Jagga Jasoos', Salman Khan's 'Tubelight' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'.

To this, Akshay Kumar said, "Twinkle's tweet on Bollywood constipation on hits is funny."

Akshay Kumar had joined 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' success press conference held in Mumbai via Skype from London and addressed the media.

He said, "There are many jokes which are being made on 'Toilet' which is good for the society. People are talking about it."

Akshay Kumar, who has worked on several films with a social message, appealed to the audience to not tag him as someone who only does social films.

'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' has been dubbed as a 'propaganda film' by some sections but the actor today said there is nothing wrong in raising relevant issues, which even the government is concerned about, through cinema.

When asked about the criticism of the movie, Akshay told reporters, "If the government is saying the same thing which is good and if you call that a propaganda, then okay we are doing propaganda. I believe building a toilet is extremely important, especially for women," he said.

"I am talking about sanitary pads in 'Padman' and you'll be sad to know that 91 per cent of women don't use it because they can't afford it. To talk about such things and bring them in the forefront isn't propaganda. You want such issues to be highlighted and talked about," said Akshay in the press conference.

'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' is the first film under GST regime to be tax free. A special screening of 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' will be organised for the Panchs (village representatives) and Sarpanchs (village heads) of Gurugram district.

Akshay Kumar further said, "I am not a superhero. It's difficult to become a hero in Bollywood."

'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' is in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to improve sanitation conditions in the country, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas.

It also features Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher in key roles.
