London-based Bollywood playback singer, Ash King, made his debut with 'Dil Gira Dafatan' (Delhi-6, 2009). All the songs he's recorded in his eight-year-long filmi career have had English influences. However, his latest number, 'Baarish', from 'Half Girlfriend', which is currently ruling the charts, wasn't a cakewalk because he had to tone down his British accent.

"What I love the most about India is the monsoon. I am glad I got to sing a song about the rain. The track was challenging because composers usually like my western style. But this time around, I was told that the character I was singing for couldn't speak English at all. I had to be careful about my western accent."

King, who has collaborated with several international biggies, including Lady Gaga, wants to invest more time in independent music. He says Gaga loved the Indian mix of her hit, Just Dance. "She is an amazing artiste. I am sure she would love to tour India," he says, adding, "I am working on my first independent English single and a few Hindi numbers as well."
