Bandra — the word emanates a polite yet swanky tone. The suburb is poetry to many but a party hub for the rest. The abrupt end to a lane and the sudden shortcut to a church make up the mysteriously gorgeous suburb in the big city. It is not only about the parties and pubs; the queen of the hamlet flaunts a rich history and one can delve deep, cycling through the community on a Sunday morning.

Craig Fonseca, a 29-year-old entrepreneur, who runs Travel Master Gogo — a travel company that creates exploratory tours in and around the city — is hosting a cycle tour in Bandra. The event is called Bike-urious: Bicycle Tour of Bandra.

“The tour is to show people the different side of Bandra. In everyone’s head, Bandra is all about this cool, party place with a great nightlife. But there is more to it in terms of culture and local stories,” says Fonseca.

“The suburb houses everyone — Christians to Kolis,” he adds. Fonseca’s firm believes in creating and curating experiences to photograph for a lifetime. “We did a similar cycle tour in South Mumbai recently. We also do treks. One of the new things we have started is a family campaign to introduce children to nature and wildlife,” he adds.

However, the sojourn starts and ends at Rebello Road. “We have hired cycles and helmets from a store there called Bichanix. So, we decided that to be the main point. We will halt at Bandra Station, Nandi Cinema, Mount Mary Church, among other places. Our aim is to try and stay off the main road and explore the winding lanes,” says Fonseca.

If you don’t have a cycle, you can hire one from them by paying R300 (excluding the registration charge of Rs 200) for the entire duration.
