Twenty days after a photograph of a fragile-looking Vinod Khanna went viral, the Bollywood heartthrob breathed his last on Thursday morning at the age of 70.

The actor was known for his drop-dead gorgeous looks. Vinod Khanna, who was born on October 6, 1946 in Peshawar, got married to his girlfriend Geetanjali Taleyarkhan in 1971 in Mumbai. The couple were had two sons -- Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna.

The couple became estranged and Geetanjali filed for divorce from Vinod in the mid-1980s. The actor was in his prime and at the top of his game when he left the film industry in 1982 to become a disciple of Osho Rajneesh. He moved to ‘Rajneeshpuram’ in the US and came back to India after five long years.

The then 43-year-old Vinod Khanna had just returned from Osho's fold when he got divorced.
Vinod then met his second wife-to-be Kavita Daftary on his 43rd birthday in 1989. It is said that the couple met accidentally at the birthday bash the actor had thrown at his residence, since Kavita hadn't even been invited to the party.

Kavita is the daughter of noted industrialist Sarayu Daftary and the granddaughter of industrialist Lalchand Hirachand, who is in turn the brother of Walchand Hirachand through her mother Sharayu.

The couple got married in May 1990 and have two children -- a son, Sakshi Khanna, and a daughter, Shraddha Khanna.
This May, they would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary, but that wasn't to be.
