2017 Maruti Suzuki DZire unveiled
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki DZire drops the Swift prefix and will now be marketed simply as the 'DZire'. It gets new projector headlights, hexagonal grille, LED tail lamps and a new shape for the bumper. Engine options remain the same as on the outgoing Swift DZire — 1.2-litre K-series petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS turbo-diesel units. It is the first Maruti to get a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel along with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Top-spec models get reverse camera, keyless entry and a Start/Stop button. ABS with EBD and dual airbags are standard along with pre-tensioner-equipped seat belts. Maruti has withheld the price so far and the car is set to be launched on May 16.

Kawasaki Z1000, Z1000R and Z250 launched
India Kawasaki Motors has launched the latest Z1000, Z1000R and Z250. The company introduced the 2017 edition of its celebrated litre-class nakeds - the Z1000 and Z1000R, priced at Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh respectively (both ex-Pune). The 1,043-cc, DOHC, in-line four engine still produces 142 PS and 111 Nm of torque. However, Kawasaki claims that the re-tuned ECU (now Euro 4 and BS-IV compliant) has also improved low and mid-range delivery. Kawasaki has also launched the smallest Z bike, the Z250 with a price tag of Rs 3.09 lakh (ex-Pune). The 2017 Z250 is now BS-IV compliant and remains largely unchanged.

Hyundai launches the 2017 edition Xcent
Hyundai India has taken the wraps off the 2017 edition of Xcent compact sedan, available from Rs 5.38 lakh to Rs 8.42 lakh (all Ex-Delhi). The Xcent comes with Hyundai's new 1.2-litre three-pot diesel plant. The engine slots alongside the petrol engine of similar configurations. Power and torque figures are 75 PS and 190 Nm for the diesel and 83 PS and 114 Nm for the 1.2 petrol. Other changes include new front and rear bumpers, the inclusion of LED daytime running lamps, and a split tail-lamp unit at the rear. A slightly tweaked interior now packs a 7-inch touchscreen that sports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink in addition to the usual USB and Aux inputs. However, the infotainment does without a sat-nav system. Airbags are now standard on the Xcent. However, ABS is not.
