Road closure near Aranyeshwar temple for inauguration of Papillon Park by Dimple Kapadia sends commuters in a tizzy

The butterfly garden or the Papillon Park in Sahakar Nagar was finally inaugurated yesterday with much pomp and fanfare by Bollywood actress Dimple Kapadia, but not without causing much tribulation to residents and commuters in Aranyeshwar.

The road from Aranyeshwar temple to Tavare Colony was blocked from Monday,u00a0 compelling people to take a longer route during rush hour.

Bipin Potnis, a businessman from the area, said: "They should have at least put up a board informing us about the block. We had to spend extra time during rush hour."

Considering the fact that there are many schools in this area, the parents were confused about which route to take to drop and pick-up their children.

Commenting on the road closure, corporator Aba Bagul, who initiated the Papillon project, said: "I was informed by the garden department that they had taken prior permissions from the local police station."

Police Inspector Vijaykumar Palsule of traffic planning said no prior permission was taken and if the road was blocked, it was illegal.

Organisers Aba Bagul and Mayor Mohansihgh Rajpal had put MP Suresh Kalmadi's and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's name in the list of dignitaries, but both gave this event a miss. The dignitaries who were present for the function were Forest Minister Patangrao Kadam and Pune Municipal Corporation school board chairman Sangita Tiwari.

Bagul said Dimple Kapadia's presence made him speechless. He kept shifting awkwardly from Marathi to Hindi so the Bollywood actress could understand his speech.
