Watch an Indian ballerina perform an acclaimed ballet piece, get your kids to enjoy a Halloween puppetry show or let an installation of a zoo mesmerise you. Art Hop, a cultural festival, promises something for everyone with 80 artistes showcasing their talent at 12 locations
So, what's your plan for today? A lazy brunch, followed by a movie and a shopping spree? Instead, what if you get a chance to watch a quirky comedy performance or an acclaimed dance piece, listen to Rajasthani folk tunes synchronised with electric guitar and get your kids to learn more about Ramayana through puppetry? Art Hop, a cultural festival, claims to have 50 artists and 30 performers show their acumen at 12 locations spanning from art galleries, restaurants and atop a salon roof in Bandra. The brainchild of Aalok Aswani, Varsha Krishnani and Nihariekka Lohia, the one-day event has an eclectic mix of art shows, music and dance performances, comedy pieces and workshops to learn a thing or two about photography, pottery, the meditative Japanese Butoh Dance and art therapy.u00a0

“The aim of Art Hop is to give a platform to budding artists to showcase their talent,” says Krishnani. Aswani adds, “We wanted to give people incentive to step out of their homes on a Sunday and do something different. We chose Bandra as it’s centrally located and can be accessed by South Mumbai residents as well as that of the suburtbs.”
