Chelsea celebrated lifting the Premier League trophy with a record 30th win as relegated Sunderland were dispatched with ease at Stamford Bridge. Javier Manquillo gave Sunderland a shock third-minute lead, but Chelsea responded as Willian, Eden Hazard, Pedro and Michy Batshuayi, with a late double, earned a 5-1 victory.

The result ensured the Blues became the first side in a 38-game season to win 30 games. And Antonio Conte will seek to end his first season as head coach with a double with victory in next Saturday's FA Cup final with Arsenal.

Terry gets guard of honour
Conte handled captain John Terry's abdication respectfully. Terry handed over the captain's armband to Gary Cahill after a guard of honour which marked his first-half substitution and final Stamford Bridge appearance for Chelsea.

Cahill appears to be his successor as skipper and, alongside Conte, the Blues are in good hands. Conte has intimated his intention to stay despite being coveted by Inter Milan and could be awarded a contract extension, 12 months into his three-year deal. The former Juventus and Italy boss described this season as one of transition, but has expertly managed Terry's departure. There could be further farewells. Striker Diego Costa and Hazard were substituted in the second half.

Liverpool secure CL spot
Brilliant goals from Georginio Wijnaldum, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana secured Liverpool a spot in next season's Champions League play-off round after a 3-0 win over relegated Middlesbrough yesterday. Going into the last round of fixtures, third and fourth place were still up for grabs, but Liverpool held their nerve at Anfield and manager Jurgen Klopp said he was relieved to hold onto fourth spot from Arsenal. "I could not imagine this morning it would be like this. I couldn't think it would be really tight until the end," the German told Sky Sports.

"I am really happy about this. I think people deserve this opportunity for us to be able to qualify for the Champions League. I asked for the results at half time and not before, so I had no idea about the Arsenal score," he added. Klopp said a club with the profile of Liverpool needed Champions League football. "We have to improve and we will. A club like Liverpool needs to be in the Champions League," he added.
