Google Maps will very soon roll out a new feature called the ‘location-monitoring feature’ for its users. This real time location-sharing feature will be available on Android and iOS platforms and can be accessed after updating Google Maps mobile app. The new feature will help users to share their real-time locations and movements with friends and family.

All a user needs to do is press the blue icon on the map or open the menu and click on to the ‘Share location’ option. Once the option is turned on, it will let the user share the location with his friends and family for a specific time or until and unless it is manually turned off.

Location-monitoring feature will also allow users to share their route from the navigation screen. The route sharing ends immediately after the trip comes to an end. Some other interesting add-ons of this new feature includes finding restaurants and coffee shops, and getting several directions to their location. The location can be shared with Google contacts.
The feature will also be available on desktop.
