Anurag Kashyap seems to have deleted his Twitter account in the wake of controversy dogging India's official entry to the Oscars

Has Anurag Kashyap gone off Twitter?

For someone who once famously vouched for Twitter as a medium to air his views on a public forum, it comes as a surprise that Anurag Kashyap has pulled the plug on his existence on the microblogging site.

The grapevine is buzzing with rumours that Anurag’s sudden death on Twitter could have something to do with the ongoing mudslinging on the social media against The Good Road, India’s official entry to the Oscars next year. Anurag and his merry band of co-producers came down heavily on Gyan Correa’s Gujarati National Award winning film, accusing the Film Federation of India (FFI) of allegedly encouraging a lack of transparency in the selection process.

After months of lobbying hard around international film festivals for Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox, co-producer Anurag took to Twitter to vent his frustration at the FFI overlooking their product. In one of his tweets, he even sounded ominous, threatening his counterpart with, “…it better make it to the final five.”

For the filmmaker, who is a self-appointed sentinel of small-budget movies, it comes as a surprise that this issue became a bone of contention. The director had famously also taken to Twitter to vent his ire against Salman and Arbaaz Khan when his brother Abhinav Singh Kashyap was apparently unceremoniously shown the door from the sequel of Dabangg. When contacted, Anurag had just two words to tell us "F*** off." Okay then.u00a0
