FIO at the Garden of Five Senses feels like an urban eat-Eden. And its fruits are fresh, not forbidden

It was a rather rotten day when we walked into this pretty li'l paradise. Picture a terrible ten-hour day at work that winds up with soothing music, garden fresh air, wine and mild munchies, and you'd know why it felt that way. Fio, named after a wildflower and tucked in a cosy corner of The Garden of Five Senses likewise, appeals even to your sixth. It's an alfresco fairytale, to put it the best.

Out and about:u00a0FIO feels like an Alfresco fairytale

Food
The mish-mash menu's endearing, whether it's fresh fruit salads on your mind, or propah Punjabi khaana. We started with funghi ripieni, and the mushrooms melted just right. The sumptuous serving of pollo sticks, a skinned potato snack, was crispy as spicy; and in salads, there's no way you should miss their insalata misticanza. If you're more of a pasta person, we recommend the fettuccine alfredo, slurp-acious and slippery.
Main course. Change of taste. Their frontier food is just as fineu00a0-- khasta paneer tikka, Bano kastoori and Peshawari dhingriu00a0-- all fired up, fanned down. No oil leaks on your plate, no burnt curry colours. Team it with steamed rice or tikona roti; their lachcha paratha isn't particularly special.
The Dessert menu or the Dolce Meetha, goes from the very Italian Tiramisu to the eternal fare of Parsi Dairy Kulfi from Mumbai. Try the Budino di Cioccolata. Chocolate with a change.

Drinks
They have it all hereu00a0-- innovative cocktails, mild mocktails and liquor, both in-shore and off. One odd brand maybe missing from the bar, as was, in our case, so yes, we do hope the restocking sessions happen quicker. In bubblies, we found the Australian Cape Mentelle of the Merlot kind the best.

Ambience
Ah, the best part. It's a scene straight out of Madhatter's Tea Party in Alice's Wonderland, the only difference being, you get to sip on Tuborg instead of the tea. The low-hung lamps heal the eye while the refreshing whiffs heal the heart. It's country charm, unadulterated. The du00e9cor is basic, and there are blankets by your side, so that there're only thrills, no chills. The ground beneath is pebble-street. Inside, it's chic, but you'd be missing half the magic if you're not out on their woods. It's raw contemporary, the garden furniture. Nothing gaudy or over-the-top glamourous. A welcome break from the wannabes. We only wish the shack-washroom was kept cleaner.
