Arunima Sinha


Arunima Sinha: Mountaineer Arunima Sinha's story is a true example of determination and grit, that would inspire everyone, who hears it. Sinha was the victim of a brutal train accident, which led to her left leg getting amputated below the knee. This was the result of a robber duo assaulting, robbing and pushing her off a moving train. She didn't let that incident prevent her from making something of herself and became the first female Indian amputee to scale Mt. Everest. Arunima was awarded the Padma Shri in 2015 and already climbed five peaks so far!


Priyanka Chopra


Priyanka Chopra: The Bollywood actress, who has made quite a name for herself with the international series 'Quantico', and is slated to star in upcoming film, 'Baywatch', along with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, rose to the very top through sheer determination. Born and raised in a middle-class family, she became 'Miss India', and climbed the very top of the ladder in the Bollywood film industry, only to move on to the West and become a star in Hollywood. She fought hard to overcome the odds and found success at the end and her fame is still growing. She is also a Padma Shri awardee and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Rights. Bravo Priyanka!

Deepa Malik

Deepa Malik: Malik, who won a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in shot put is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympic Games. Deepa Malik, who has won numerous accolades in various adventure sports, was diagnosed with a spinal tumour that led to her becoming a paraplegic. She has not let her handicap limit her. Malik is also the first person to hold a licence for an invalid racing vehicle, something she lobbied for 19 months in Maharashtra. Awarded the Arjuna Award in 2015, she is a living example that anybody is capable of great things, if they put their heart and soul into it.

Geeta Phogat

Geeta Phogat: The Haryana-based grappler succeeded in breaking the stereotypical image of wrestling being a male sport. She trained hard in the scorching heat and cold winter, under the mentorship of her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, who is himself a former wrestler and Dronacharya Award recipient. Her hard work paid off and she was able to ensare India's first ever gold medal in wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and also became the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympic Summer Games. Geeta's sister Babita Kumari and cousin Vinesh Phogat are also gold medalists at at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and her younger sister Ritu Phogat, also an international level wrestler, won a gold medal at the 2016 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. The Phogat family were portrayed in the recently released biopic 'Dangal'.

Nita Ambani

Nita Ambani: The chairperson and founder of Reliance Foundation and non-executive director of Reliance Industries has been bestowed with numerous honors including a place in the 2016 edition of both the most influential women business leaders in Asia list by Forbes. Nita Ambani is also on the fifty high and mighty Indians list by India Today. The wife of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, is also the first indian woman to become member of IOC(International Olympic Committee). She is also the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians.

Laxmi Agarwal

Laxmi Agarwal: Laxmi Agarwal has survived a brutal acid attack at the tender age of 15. The culprit was a man whose advances she spurned. Overcoming 8 years of clinical depression after 7 surgeries, Agarwal started raising her voice for other acid attack survivors and initiated a petition to put a halt on such brutalities. Laxmi Agarwal then became the director of Chhanv Foundation, an NGO devoted to support Indian acid attack survivor and also hosts Udaan, a TV show, which discusses the valor of victims of injustice. She also walked the ramp for a fashion campaign named, 'Faces of Courage'.
