Zenon, Indian superstar Jacqueline's third progeny after she was sent as a broodmare to England, won a mile-and-a-half race on Tuesday evening at Chepstow in the United Kingdom.

Zenon justified his favourite tag (quoted at 10/11) when he bounded away for an effortless three-length victory in the upper division of the Dribuild Maiden Stakes. Zenon is trained by John Gosden and was ridden by K Shoemark on this occasion.

Zenon had made his debut as a two-year-old last year in August. This was his third start after he opened his three-year-old campaign with a runner up berth last month at Newmarket.

As racehorse, Jacqueline was a super filly trained by Pesi Shroff seven years ago. She had made a clean sweep of all the Indian Classics of the Mumbai racing season of 2009-10, including the Indian 2000 Guineas in which fillies very rarely participate against the colts. Jacqueline was owned by Pune's Vijay Shirke and Mumbai's KN Dhunjibhoy and Bergis Minoo Desai.

The trio owns Zenon, like they also did with Jacqueline's first two progenies Primogeniture (2011, by Glory Of Dancer) and Lord Napier (2013, by Galileo).

Primogeniture has won three races from 29 starts, while Lord Napier has yet to win a race after eight attempts.

Ironically, owner Vijay Shirke whose silks Zenon donned could not make it to Chepstow to lead in the winner, despite being present in England. His partner, KN Dhunjibhoy said: "Vijay was in London. Even I am going there today. I wish at least one of us were there to cheer our baby."
