Nitish Kumar challenges Sharad Yadav to split JD(U); party dares rebel leader to attend RJD rally

JD(U) returns to NDA after 4 years, but Team Sharad points 'arrow' towards EC

As expected, the JD(U) faction led by CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday decided to be part of the NDA, returning to the BJP-led alliance four years after it snapped the 17-year-old ties with the saffron party.

Coming down heavily on senior leader Sharad Yadav for his revolt, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar asked the rebel leader as to why he never raised an objection when the party was separating from the NDA in 2013. "Why didn't he (Sharad) raise objections in 2013, when we were parting away from the NDA? He was a member of the party at that time," the CM said.

The Nitish faction virtually put the rebel leader on notice, hinting at action against him if he attends the RJD rally on August 27. General secretary KC Tyagi said the party has not acted against Yadav for his "anti-party activities" because of his seniority. "If he attends RJD chief Lalu Prasad's rally in the state on August 27, then he will cross the Lakshman Rekha," Tyagi said.
