Yesterday, resuming on an overnight score of 138-4, the Ghatkopar side were bowled out for 333 runs off 86.4 overs. All-rounder Siddharth Ghule (55) and Sarvesh Singh (49) were the top scorers for Jhunjhunwala.

Ruparel’s left-arm spinner Ankit Naik also took a fifer but it did not affect the outcome of the match. u00a0Thereafter, in their second stint Ruparel was reduced to 33-5 at stumps on Day Two. Patil was aptly adjudged man of the match while Ghule was named player of the tournament.

Why only two-day final?
Both teams however felt that the encounter should have been played over a longer period. u00a0Jhunjhunwala pacer Patil said, “If both the teams have to complete two innings, four days are a must. A longer final will test our patience, which will keep us in good stead for the future. Even a three-day final would have been better.”

Ruparel’s Naik felt the organisers could learn from the format of inter-school matches. “If an inter-school final can be played across four days, then why not an inter-college final? We fared badly in the first innings and thereafter weren’t motivated enough for the second stint as there was not much time left.

An additional day would have given us the hope of staging a comeback,” he said. u00a0Ruparel captain Sanjle meanwhile blamed his batsmen for the disappointing loss. “We never expected to get out so cheaply,” u00a0he said.u00a0
