The original 'Ittefaq' was notable for being entirely songless. It only had Salil Chowdhary's background score.
It was reported in February this year that Akshaye Khanna has been signed to play a negative character in the remake of BR Chopra's 1969 classic.
'Ittefaq', itself a remake of British film, Signpost to Murder (1964), revolved around an artist, who is accused of murdering his wife whom he had pushed in a fit of rage. He then spends the stormy night with a rich womanm who harbours a dark secret of her own.

Yash Chopra had wielded the megaphone for the original 'Ittefaq'.
Not many would know that Sonakshi's father, Shatrughan Sinha, was the first choice for the original film, which eventually starred Rajesh Khanna. Shatrughan couldn't take it up due to date issues. Says Sonakshi, "It feels like life has come a full circle. I didn't even know dad was offered Ittefaq till I signed it (the remake)."
'Ittefaq' is slated to release on 3rd November.
