Right after her delivery, Kareena Kapoor Khan wanted to get back in shape. Her 'size-zero' diet for Tashan would have been the obvious resort, but for her dietician Rujuta Diwekar's intervention. "A lot of parathas and pizzas have gone into Taimur [son]. When I was up and about during pregnancy, I'd often worry about my weight. Lolo (Karisma Kapoor, sister) asked me to have fun and I did. Soon after, I wanted to get back to the Tashan diet. But Rujuta stopped me from rushing into things. I am eating in moderation and paying attention to what my body needs."

Taking on post-pregnancy pitfalls, from losing hair to gaining kilos, Rujuta says, "Hair loss is primarily due to loss of minerals. Rice and coconut are both great, but mostly, a handful of cashews help in improving hair texture. Til ka gajak and laddoo have been included in her diet."

Bebo is currently following a balanced diet — a bowl of veggies apart from bajra rotis brushed with ghee and lots of jaggery. "She gorged on lentils. Rajma and chholay were her favourite. Even now, she takes a bowl of khichdi from time to time. At times, she eats a palmful of rice for dinner. While watching TV at night, she has her glass of milk, which is a great source of Vitamin D. If she intends to drink [alcohol], she informs me three days in advance, so I can move her diet around. Eating in moderation is the key," says Rujuta.

Both Kareena and Rujuta agree that walking is most effective. "Post-pregnancy diets can lead to thyroid and other complications. I needed to rebuild bone and muscle density. After delivery, stomach muscles tend to loosen up. Weight loss by walking is most sustainable. Lolo put on 26 kilos [during pregnancy] and lost it in a year. Now, she is at her fittest. My son, anyway, wants me to hold him and walk all the time. He cries if I sit down with him," the actress says.

What's Bebo's goal at this point? "When I was shooting for Jab We Met (2007), I would wake up to a glass of fresh apple juice. My goal is go back to that look. I want to eat what's available locally," she adds.
