Bollywood stayed on the wishlist of Indian netizens, as tinsel town actor topped the chart of Google's most searched leaving behind anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and even Steve Jobsu00a0

The near-invincible Anna Hazare, whose popularity swelled following his marathon anti-corruption fasts, has quietly conceded defeat to Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif in the virtual world.

As the year is drawing to a close, Google has announced its annual zeitgeist -- a rundown of the people and topics most frequently searched online in the past 12 months.

According to the report, Bollywood remains favorite of netizens in India with Katrina topping the chart of the most searched person leaving behind the anti-graft crusader. Hazare was followed by Salman Khan and dare bare model Poonam Pandey.
While blue-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan came sixth, names of actresses Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra also figured in the top 10 list of the most searched celebrities, with Bebo posing pretty at the 8th slot and Piggy Chopps holding on to the foothold two notches below.

Surprisingly, only sportsperson to make it to the list was Sachin Tendulkar. He ranked seventh. Thus, the report established how the net savvy people are obsessed with Bollywood celebrities. "Google Zeitgeist 2011 truly makes India come alive, giving us insights into India's development as a nation.

2011 saw Indian Internet becoming mainstream -- over 70 per cent of search happened in non-metros, a lot of Internet usage moved to mobiles and we hit the 125 million users mark," said Lalitesh Katragadda, Country Head India Products.

Other newsworthy events in the Zeitgeist list were the Lokpal Bill and Aadhar card; Japan Earthquake, the death of Osama Bin Laden and Diwali festival.

Badshah dethroned
Salman Khan beats arch-rival Shahrukh Khan as Bodyguard was the most searched movie in the country followed by Ra.One.

International movies Harry Potter and Transformers also made in the list on third and seventh spot. Other movies in the list include Delhi Belly, Singham, Ready, Mankatha, Dookudu and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
