Katrina Kaif is sitting pretty with big projects that see her collaborating with the three Khans - Tiger Zinda Hai opposite Salman, Thugs Of Hindostan with Aamir and Aanand L Rai's dwarf film that reunites her with Shah Rukh.

Now, mid-day has learnt that the actor has been approached to play Shahid Kapoor's love interest in the social entertainer Roshni (tentative title). Helmed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh and penned by Rustom scriptwriter Vipul K Rawal, the drama revolves around the common man's fight against the power distribution companies in the country that make its consumers cough up huge amounts for bills.
Said a source from the creative team, "Shree Narayan Singh gave Katrina a narration before she left for Los Angeles. She loved the story and is keen to collaborate with him. She has already asked her team to work out further details."

While Kapoor plays a lawyer who raises his voice against the power distribution companies, the female lead will be seen playing his philosopher and guide who joins him in his fight for justice.
If she gives her nod to the film, it will mark her first outing with Kapoor. Besides believing Kaif to be a perfect fit for the role, the director was also keen on signing on a leading lady who hasn't shared screen space with Kapoor before.

The source added, "The creative team loved the fresh pairing of Shahid and Katrina. She is in Los Angeles to apparently chart out her debut in Hollywood. Once she returns, she is expected to sign on the dotted line after finalising the dates and remuneration." When we reached out to Singh, he said, "I haven't decided on the female lead yet."
