The Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) are planning to launch two new leagues - monsoon football and beach football, chairman Aditya Thackeray revealed yesterday.

Though the idea is still in its nascent stage, Thackeray said that talks are on with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to formulate the rules for the tournament.
"Kids play football when they are in school or take up professional football after completing college. There is a gap after school which needs to be filled. So we plan to come up with these two new leagues," Thackeray said during the launch of MDFA’s web portal.
