Ever been in a situation where you had to avoid getting on to an MSRTC bus at an ST stand due to shortage of cash? This will soon change as Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is planning to set up ATM booths at the bus stands for the convenience of its passengers.

This decision was taken last week at the organisations head office and the open tender procedure has kicked-off across the state. It has not yet been decided as to which banks ATMs will be accommodated, but banks willing to pay high rent for the space stand a good chance to have their ATMs at the stands.

“Our officials have identified potential spaces inside every stand in Pune division where an ATM machine can be installed,” said Pune divisional controller Shailesh Chavhan. He added, “In Pune division there are 12 depots and MSRTC stands and 17 ATM booths have been sanctioned for these points. We started the tender procedure eight days back and the bank bidding the highest per stand will get the space for their ATMs.”

“We are working on the tenders as the rent at stands like Swargate and Shivajinagar will be higher than those in remote areas. The procedure is likely to be complete in one month and from mid April ATM machines will be operational at the stands in Pune division,” Chavhan said. The month of April attracts vacation crowds at the stands and having ATMs installed will be beneficial to the customers.
