Finally, we are just a day away from the unveiling of a car that's going to have a significant impact in the premium SUV segment of the Indian market. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India is organising its first press event related to the Jeep Compass tomorrow and the automaker is expected to reveal all the details of the made-in-India Compass at the event. The automaker teased the upcoming Compass on its YouTube channel few days back and the Compass has already been listed on Jeep's official website as 'coming soon'. We can't wait to get our hands on the India-spec Jeep Compass.

The Compass will be Jeep's first product to be manufactured at FCA's plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. It will also be manufactured at three other locations in China, Brazil and Mexico and will be sold in more than 100 countries. However, the Ranjangaon plant is the only place where the right-hand–drive variant will be manufactured.
The Jeep Compass made its world debut in September last year and is already being sold in a few countries. In India, it is expected to hit the showrooms by June this year. Jeep is expected to price the Compass very competitively (expected Rs 18-20 lakh) as the production is extensively localised.
The Compass is likely to be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged MultiAirII petrol and the 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engines in India. A six-speed manual is likely to be standard with an optional six-speed/ nine-speed automatic. The Compass will also be loaded with features. The India-spec Compass is likely to come with features like panoramic sunroof, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, leather upholstery, multiple airbags and Beats audio system.
The Compass is a very important car for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in India. The other products of Jeep, the Wrangler and Cherokee are directly imported as CBUs and hence have a hefty price tag. With the introduction of the Compass, Jeep's market share could significantly increase as more people would be able to afford one. It would compete with the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan.
