There is good news for the people staying in Mumbai and the neighbouring Thane and Navi Mumbai area. In the coming years, one would be able to travel in Mumbai Metro between the above cities. The Maharashtra government took an all-important decision and cleared two Metro projects, the DN Nagar-Bandra-Mankhurd line and the Wadala-Thane-Ghatkopar-Kasarvadavali. Both the Metros would be constructed by spending around Rs 25 thousand crore.

The projects were cleared in the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday. The Metro line would be connected to the nearest Metro lines and suburban railway stations and interchanges will be in place for fast commuting.

The DN Nagar-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro-2B Corridor will be 23.5-k long and will cost Rs.10,986 crore. The Metro corridor will have 22 stations. Apart from this, the Wadala-Thane-Ghatkopar-Kasarvadavali Metro-4 corridor will be 32-km long, will cost Rs.14,549 crore and will have 32 stations. There will be 6-coach trains that will run on these corridors, carrying 1,800 commuters per trip (8 commuters per square meter). By 2021-22, the expected daily ridership of these lines would be above 8 lakh.
