His empowering speech against the 'rotten' system and successive meetings with those in power have hinted at South superstar Rajinikanth's political ambitions, but, much like political analysts, fans and friends, the actor's family too is unaware about his eventual foray into the field. "We don't have much clarity about his political plans," the Thailavar's director-daughter, Soundarya Rajinikanth tells mid-day, quick to add that the actor will have his family's support whether he chooses to take the plunge or not. "I wouldn't want to comment on my father's behalf. However, if and when he decides to do this, we will support him in every way."

Even while Rajinikanth has been inconsistent when tackling questions on his decision, oscillating between appearing weary on being prodded about it, then urging fans to prepare for the "war when that happens", at home, Soundarya says dinner table conversations do not revolve around the subject. "We discuss movies and politics, but the family knows how to keep work outside [of our conversations]. This is how I have managed to build relationships in my family, whether it is with my father or Dhanush sir [actor, brother-in-law]. While we discuss and debate on issues, we are all capable of making independent decisions."

Earlier this week, Rajinikanth's politician-friend Tamilaruvi Manian said the actor was "clear" about venturing into politics with "his own party sooner or later," but said he wasn't certain when the announcement could be expected. "We have discussed all political and social issues and about solutions," Manian said.
