Suspecting his wife of having an extra marital affair, a 35-year-old Nalasopara-based auto driver stabbed her to death in front of their three children, in the wee hours of Friday. The matter came to light when the kids revealed the incident to their grandfather, who recovered the body from their residence. The Tulinj police have arrested the accused Ajay Yadav and are investigating the case further. The deceased has been identified as Saroj Yadav.

Horror unfolds
Narrating the incident, the couple's eight-year-old son told police that while he and his seven-year-old sister were sleeping on Friday night, they heard their mother's screams. When they peeped into their parents' room, they saw their father attacking her with a knife. Their one-and-a-half year-old brother was also a witness to the crime. The boy further told police that the accused slit their mother's throat and also cut off some of her body parts.

Investigation has revealed that after killing his wife, Ajay fled to his father's place near Chinchvati on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. He had taken his kids along. Though the children had gone into shock after the incident, they somehow managed to gather courage and tell their grandfather Ram Yadav about the incident. When Ram visited his son's home in Nalasopara, he found Saroj's body wrapped in a bed-sheet.

Frequent fights
Sanjay Barve, police inspector from Tulinj police station said, "During interrogation, Ajay said that he suspected Saroj of having an extra marital affair and this led to frequent fights between them. He used to often beat up his wife over some issue or the other, to vent out his anger," said another officer.
