The Goregaon police arrested a 35-year-old yesterday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident came to the fore when the girl visited a doctor for stomach ache and was informed that she was seven weeks pregnant.

The minor's mother approached the Goregaon police and filed a complaint against the accused, identified as Vishal Jaiswal. An officer said, "The Std VII student's family sells vegetables for a living. Jaiswal visited their house regularly to supply vegetables.

As per the survivor's statement, Jaiswal had raped her many times in the past. He had threatened her of dire consequences, so she hadn't confided in her mother. We have booked Jaiswal for rape under the IPC and various section of the POCSO Act. He will be produced in court tomorrow."
