Dilip Rajeshirke had claimed he would get complainant a job as a minister’s driver; he had been suspended for taking a bribe
The Navghar police arrested a suspended Mantralaya clerk on December 28 for duping an individual on the pretext of offering him a job as a driver with a minister. The clerk was a government servant for more than a decade, but had been suspended after the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught him while accepting a bribe in 2008.

According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Dilip Rajeshirke, and he approached the complainant, Vishwajeet Pawar, in the name of one Suresh Pawar. Vishwajeet is a resident of Nahur and had met Rajeshirke at Mulund.

An officer from Navghar police station said, “Rajeshirke had approached the complainant on December 23, as Suresh Pawar. The complainant worked as a driver and the accused claimed that he would get him a driver’s job with some minister at Mantralaya.”
The duo met on December 28 to strike a deal. “However the complainant asked the accused to show his identity card and after looking at the card, he got suspicious and called patrolling officers immediately. The accused was questioned by the officials on the spot but as he fumbled, he was taken to the police station for further investigations,” said an officer.
During the course of the investigations, the accused revealed that he worked as a clerk at Mantralaya, but was suspended in 2008 after being caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau. A case is registered with the Antop Hill police in the matter. When the cops investigated further, they learnt that a case of cheating has also been registered against him in Tardeo police station. The cops have seized two identity cards from the accused, one of which was as Suresh Pawar, Home Department, and the other was his own, when he worked as an assistant with the School Education and Sports Department.
When contacted, Senior Police Inspector Madhav More of Navghar police station said, “We have booked the accused under relevant sections of the IPC under impersonation, cheating and forgery, while we are probing further as to how many people he has cheated.”
