Marine wonderland in Matunga
Mumbai’s big marine life show is back in the city. This time, RA Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Matunga (E) will host the Aqua Life and Marine Show for five days, from October 8. Expect to explore over 200 fish tanks and about 800 species of fish. Organisers Laukik Creations says they plan to set up a coral reef at the venue. This one is sure to give the modest Marine Drive based aquarium an image complex.

Look! There’s a book on your local train
A few days back, this diarist had mentioned about Chetan Bhagat’s smooth marketing moves to promote his new release, One Indian Girl. Post release, another promo caught the eye.

Remember Mr Boombastic?
Before the Justins (Timberlake and Bieber) took over the imagination of giggly teenagers and working mums, there was Shaggy who ruled MTV (yes, once upon a time in the 1990s and early 2000s).

Now, we hear that the Reggae superstar will perform live at a mall in the central suburbs. His fans will surely wake up and do a little jig at this bit of news.

The home state fared well too. Veteran theatre and film actor Manoj N Joshi received an award (theatre), which, as is tradition, and included a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation, an angavastram (shawl), and a tamraptra (a brass plaque).

Doing the state proud in the traditional/folk/tribal dance category were Chaya and Maya Khutegaonkar, who received a joint award for Folk dance-Lavani. Let’s hope the honour increases awareness for these performing arts.
