A Jackal in critical condition was rescued by a seven-member team from the NGO RAWW from the Godrej property at Bhandup, but the animal could not be saved despite being taken to a veterinary clinic.

Pawan Sharma from RAWW said, "On Monday evening, we received a call from the security officer at Godrej informing us that a jackal, a male, had been found in obvious pain. We immediately informed the forest department and our team led by Mahesh Ithape and Harsh Jakharia reached the spot and found the jackal was in critical condition. It was rushed to Dr Deepa Katyal for first aid and immediate treatment, but it unfortunately died at the clinic."

At the time of the rescue the animal was in pain and distress. "One of its eyes was badly injured and the animal was passing blood in its stools. Details about injuries and complications will be ruled out only after a detailed medical examination by the vet."
