Mumbai: Boy gets crushed under truck in gruesome road accident

The accident happened when the boy's elder brother, who was driving the two-wheeler, tried to overtake the truck. The accident left the driver with a severe fracture and killed his brother

In a bid to overtake a container truck, the driver of a two-wheeler along with two others who were riding pillion, came under its wheels on Wednesday. While he suffered a fracture, his 12-year-old brother died on the spot. The Shil-Daighar police registered a case against the truck driver and arrested him.

The deceased has been identified as Sarvar Ashraf Kazi, who was a Std VII student. His elder brother Munshad Ashraf Kazi, 25, was driving the vehicle, while Vaseem Ashraf Kazi, 19, was a pillion rider. Complainant Vaseem said that they reside in Daighar and were on their way to Mumbra when the incident took place.

"The complainant said that Munshad was driving the two-wheeler. When he tried to overtake the container truck, the scooty skidded and came under the rear wheels of the vehicle. The tyres crushed Sarvar's head and he died on the spot. Munshad has suffered a fracture on his leg and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Vaseem has also suffered minor injuries," said an officer from Shil-Daighar police station.

Speaking to mid-day, Sushil Jawle, senior police inspector, Shil-Daighar police station, said, "A case has been registered under sections 279, 337, 338, 427 and 304 of IPC and sections 184 and 134 of the Motor Vehicle Act. We have arrested the driver Brijesh Yadav, 37, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh. The container truck has been seized and further investigation into the matter is on."
