Mumbai: Renowned Ganpati idol maker Vijay Khatu passes away

Vijay Khatu, a man who has sculpted Ganesh idols for a number of famous Ganpati Pandals across the city has passed away at his residence early this morning

Vijay Khatu, a well-known idol maker, a Mumbaikar and the maker of ganpati idols for a number of famous Mandals accross the city, has passed away at his residence early morning on Wednesday.


A Ganesh idol sculptor for over 50 years, the famous Ganesh Murtikar (sculptor) made a number of famous idols across Mumbai including the Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Ganesh Murti. He was known to make his famous Ganpati idols in a patch of Central Railway Ground, Parel, a workshop where he works with other sculptors and brother Rajan Khatu.


Reports say that the talented idol maker died of a heart attack.
