For Std XII, the top two ranks in all-India merit list are from Mumbai; for Std X also Mumbai students rank second and third

With several Mumbai students shining in its national and state merit list, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) declared the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) for Std X and Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC) for Std XII results on Friday. Almost all schools have recorded 100% results; several schools boast of having increased the number of students scoring above 90%.

The result was declared online and could be accessed with students' seat numbers. While the ICSE board declared a merit list which saw several Mumbai students featuring on it, schools continued tabulating results in finding their toppers who were felicitated for their success.
While for Std XII, the top two ranks in the all-India merit list are from Mumbai, in the Std X national merit list, Mumbai students rank second and third. Aadyaa Maddi from Lilavati Podar High School stands first in Std XII across India, with a score of 99.75%. Manasi Puggal from Jamnabai Narsee School ranks second with a score of 99.50% in Std X; Isha Sethi from Hiranandani School, Powai, tops the state merit list and ranks second in the all-India merit list of ICSE. Manan Shah from Children's Academy in Kandivli ranks third in the national merit list and second in the state ICSE.
Meet the ISC trailblazers
Aadyaa Maddi, student of Lilavatibai Podar School — 99.75% This Mumbai girl, who tops the national merit list of Std XII, had been ranked second in Std X. Aadyaa wants to pursue computer engineering. She said, "It is important to pursue a focused study throughout the year and not depend on last-minute studies. If you study with full concentration, you cannot forget your lessons." Her message to juniors: "Studies are not everything. Have fun with your friends and do not discontinue extracurricular activities because those are healthy breathers during such stressful times." Her father, Kaliprasad Maddi, said, "We have seen her balance studies and extracurricular activities very well."
Atreyo Pal, student of Lilavatibai Podar School — 98.75%
The son of civil engineers, Atreyo, who ranks third in the national merit list, wants to pursue pure science with research work in physics. He has got admission to the University of Chicago. Atreyo, who studied for two to three hours a day, feels that early morning is the best time to get a better grasp of concepts. He wants to tell juniors, "Continue extracurricular activities. It is the best way to relax your mind and will help focus on studies effectively."

Isha Sethi, student of Hiranandani Foundation School — 99%
She ranks second in the national merit list of ICSE Std X. Isha has already started preparing for IIT's Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and plans to pursue computer engineering. "From the start of this academic year, I kept saying that I would top. Actually, I started just as a show-off but then that motivated me to put in extra hard work and now I am very happy. If you work hard, you will get anything you want," said Isha. While Isha studied only two hours a day, she began to focus more since January. "I continued studying and revising throughout the academic year. By the end of it, I increased the time," said Isha. Her message to juniors: "Do not stop extracurricular activities. It is the last year of school and, hence, fun is equally important." Isha continued to play basketball and the piano throughout the year. She said it helped her focus on studies.
Manan Shah, student of Children's Academy, Kandivli – 98.8%
He is second in the national merit list of Std X. "I was not even expecting to top the school and being in the national merit list is certainly exciting," said Manan, who is yet to decide on what to pursue for higher education. He had discontinued his extracurricular activities. He is having a gala time now at different hobby classes. His mother, Alpa Shah, who is an arts and craft teacher, said, "We are more than happy. Manan has always been sincere at studies and has been among the toppers. We are sure he will be a sincere student whatever he plans to pursue."
