Cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri has a unique style of covering cricket matches from behind the mic and some of his catch phrases have become quite famous. The fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a cricket lover and that he follows the game keenly was evident during a Twitter conversation Shastri and Modi had on Thursday.

The former India all-rounder and skipper congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his own inimitable style for BJP's landslide win in the UP elections. But he wouldn't have expected what happened next. He got a reply from the Prime Minister and that too in his own style.

Shastri, who served as Team Director of the Indian team before Anil Kumble took over, congratulated the Prime Minister using his favourite cliche 'Tracer Bullet'.

Modi decided to mimic Shastri's commentary style to shoot back a witty response.

"Congratulations @BJP4India on the landslide win in UP. The pair of PM @narendramodi & @AmitShah went past 300-mark like a #TracerBullet," Shastri tweeted.

Modi replied, "Thank you. UP polls did not quite go down to the wire. But, at the end of the day democracy is indeed the real winner! :)"

The Prime Minister was of course quoting Shastri's oft-repeated statements "Cricket is the real winner" and also his "match is going down to the wire".

Modi's response saw over 5000 retweets and more than over 11000 likes by late last evening.

Shastri's 'Tracer Bullet' has been so popular that BCCI had even run a contest with all current India players trying to
imitate the former Mumbai cricketer taking the 'Tracer Bullet Challenge'.

Twitterati too responded with some of the other popular Shastri catch phrases:
