"On the morning of July 31, Mahendra Tandel (41) from Karve village near Palm Beach, was headed to his farm, when he saw a blue bag lying in the grass. He found red water around it and got suspicious. He informed the NRI coastal police station. We found the body of a girl in her early 20s inside. Her head and body was cut into two pieces," said Prashant Burde, Joint Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai.

Clues in CCTV footage
A case was registered at NRI coastal police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and a photo of the deceased was circulated. "A constable found that the woman worked in a salon called Graceful, in Sector 44. We got some clues during the investigation. The CCTV footage in the salon showed suspicious movements of the accused and few scratch marks on his neck. So we detained and questioned him, after which he confessed to the crime," added Burde.
