'Neerja' villain Jim Sarbh latest to join cast of 'Padmavati'

Jim Sarbh has now been signed for a big banner movie - he joins the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor

As the prime hijacker in Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'Neerja', which released earlier this year, Jim Sarbh garnered rave reviews for his menacing performance. The actor, we hear, has now been signed for a big banner movie — he joins the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.


Jim will play a key role in the historical drama, but details about his character are being kept under wraps. A unit hand says, "Bhansali was blown away after watching Jim's audition tape and decided to sign him for 'Padmavati' in a challenging role."

The first schedule of 'Padmavati', billed as an anti-hero film, wrapped up last week. Ranveer plays ruthless ruler Alauddin Khilji, who is obsessed with the Mewar queen, Padmavati (Deepika). Shahid will be seen as the leading lady's husband, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.

While Jim refused to comment on the development resoning that he wasn't permitted to reveal any details, the film spokesperson, confirmed the news, saying, "It is true that Jim has been cast for Padmavati. We can't reveal anything about his character at this point, but it will exploit his versatility as an actor."
