Identified as Adil Khan, 22, a driver, he attacked Riya Gautam in Ram Nagar colony on July 5 with a knife after a conversation between them soured as she rejected his proposal. Riya died in a hospital while undergoing treatment.
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV installed nearby. He stabbed her several times before she managed to make a run for it and ask for help from surrounding shopkeepers; footage shows no one came to her aid.
After the case was registered, investigations led crime branch unit 9 to Adil at a relative's place in Behrampada. DCP, Detection, Dilip Sawant said, "The unit 9 of the crime branch conducted the operation with the Delhi police. The accused has been handed over to Delhi police for further action."
