Winning was supposed to come easy to Shiv Kapur. Midway through college he won an Asian Games gold medal. He won a pro tournament in his second start in India in 2004. He won the Asian Tour's biggest title in his Rookie Year in 2005 and the following year he played his first Major and graduated to the European Tour. Then, the winning mantra disappeared. No titles meant more frustration.

Yesterday, Kapur put all those frustrations - the loss of European Tour card; a crippling loss of form and a debilitating liver surgery last September, by draining a downhill seven-footer to win the inaugural Yeangder Heritage. It was only his second Asian Tour title in 12 years, the first having come in December 2005 in Thailand. Despite the win, Kapur said that the celebrations at home are going to be very subdued.

"I want to dedicate this win to late Vinod Khanna who passed away this week. He was very close to our family and in this moment of mourning, its nice to have some cheer. He was an incredible influence on all of us and his calmness reverberated in my thoughts. Hence the subdued celebrations," he said.
