A six-furlong sprint for class I horses, the Bangalore Turf Club Trophy, will open the eight-race Sunday card which will bring the curtain down on the Mahalaxmi racing season 2016-17. There are five runners in the fray, but the fight may be limited to Rule Downunder (Trevor up) and Paramour (Sandesh up).
The relative advantage at the scales, and also the current jockey form, both point to Rule Downunder. However, a sensational spurt by Paramour after she was fitted with blinkers on April 8 (800m in 49s, 600m in 36s, on outer sand) makes me feel the MK Jadhav ward, who has flopped last three times in a row as a favourite, may finally get it right this time.

Cambridge, trained by Pesi Shroff and to be ridden by Trevor Patel, is recommended as the best betting proposition of the evening in the lower division of the Dady Adenwalla Trophy.
