After being found five months pregnant, a 16-year-old Chinchwad resident revealed on Wednesday that she was sexually abused by an unidentified person at her exam centre during the board exams.

The crime came to light after the victim's mother approached the Bhosari police station. A case was filed against the unidentified person under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim, in her statement, said, "After finishing my exam, when I got out of the centre, a youth aged around 25, who had been harassing me, dragged me to the terrace of the school building and raped me." Inspector Ajay Bhosale said.

"The victim kept quiet because the culprit had threatened to kill her. Based on the description she gave, we are in the process of zeroing in on the youth, who, it seems, was known to the mother. The victim is undergoing treatment."
