Ravichandran Ashwin is going through a purple patch in his career right now and with India set to play 10 more Test matches at home, we can expect him to set many records this season.

But having reached the coveted milestone of being the fastest Indian to reach 200 wickets or don't seem to have made him arrogant or proud.

The offie, who has been rested for the current India vs New Zealand ODI series, has been in the news for his congratulatory tweets for Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah before and after the leggie broke his record in Test against West Indies

Ashwin first tweeted good wishes for Yasir Shah, who was five short of his 100th Test wicket. Yasir had raced to 95 wickets in just 16 Tests, since making his debut in 2014.Before Yasir, the record for the fastest bowler from Asia to 100 Test wickets was held by Ashwin who had taken those wickets in 18. Yasir then broke Ashwin's record on Sunday and managed to become the joint second-fastest bowler to take 100 Test scalps after 17 Tests when he scalped Miguel Cummins. Ashwin acknowledged the feat with a congratulatory tweet.

In the middle of the rising political tensions between the two countries, Ashwin's tweet brought him fresh set of fans from across the border.

Well, that's not all Ashwin's been up to lately. He took to Twitter to put to bed all the controversy surrounding his former teamamate Harbhajan Singh's comments about 'spin-friendly' tracks in India.

During the Indore Test, Harbhajan had tweeted in response to one of his followers: “Kumble and my test wicket count would have been something else if we got wickets like last 4 years we playing on.”

This led to media even asking Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli about the issue.

Ashwin took to Twitter trying to stop speculations about his alleged differences with Harbhajan.

“@harbhajan_singh has been an inspiration nd I started bowling off spin only after seeing the 2001 series. This banter going on is unhealthy,” India’s current premier strike bowler tweeted. “By pitting players against each other we aren’t going to gain anything but just a juicy headline. Lets respect ppl and keep the game healthy,” he posted on the micro-blogging site.

In his response, the senior off-spinner from Punjab also clarified that his comments were not against him. Bhajji tweeted:“Dear got nothing against you. For some reasons my words are misconstrued. Wish you nothing but the best ?? Keep the flag high! God bless.”

The duo's mutual respect and appreciation for each other surely shows that the game is still being played by 'gentlemen'.
