On Saturday at 2.30 am, the Oshiwara police booked the 40-year-old director for allegedly abusing an actress named Ritu Khanna, who features in TV shows like 'Jhansi Ki Rani', 'Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki' and 'Crime Patrol'. She was at a Lokhandwala coffee shop with her boyfriend Rohit Kapoor.
According to sources, Rakesh was under the influence of alcohol when he visited the coffee shop at 11.30 pm on Friday with a few friends. The actress filed a complaint at Oshiwara Police station at 3 am on Saturday. “She has stated that Rakesh ordered a coffee, and after a few minutes, he, along with his friends, passed lewd comments at her. They even tried to click her photographs from their cell phones,” said Senior PI Subhash Khanvilkar.
Sawant was booked under IPC section 504 (abusing) and 509 (eve-teasing), and later released on bail.
