Ranbir Kapoor said that they might come up with a sequel to Jagga Jasoos since the film ends on a cliffhanger. He added that the decision depends on how the movie fares at the box-office upon its release.

"We have left the film on a cliffhanger, where it needs a part two or three. If they (the audience) accept it, then we would love to take the character and the genre forward," said Kapoor.

The actor said that the team earlier wanted to do a spin-off or a story that traces the origin of the character, but the plans were shelved after Jagga Jasoos took more than three years to make.

"In the first year when we were working on the film, we thought about a TV show, a prequel like Junior Jagga or a spin-off. But it took us a lot of time to make the film," added Kapoor.

He said they were apprehensive about the film due to various reasons — including delays and the much publicised break-up between Ranbir Kapoor and the movie's leading lady Katrina Kaif.

"It took three-and-a-half years to make the film. We were surrounded by a lot of negativity, like why the film is taking so much time, about Katrina and myself. But, we just went with the right intention."
