SS Iyer, Bawne score fifties as India 'A' vs NZ 'A' ends in thrilling draw

The second unofficial ODI between India 'A' and New Zealand 'A' ended in a thrilling tie after Mumbai's Shreyas Iyer (90) and Maharashtra's Ankit Bawne (83) made sublime half-centuries. India, needing 11 off the final over, ended at 269 for nine in 42 overs. New Zealand had made 269 for six with Glen Philipps scoring an unbeaten 140 off 130 balls. The match was restricted to 42 overs due to a rain delay. India 'A' had a wobbly start to their chase, losing five wickets with just 84 runs on the board in 14.5 overs.

However, a 126-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Iyer and Bawne helped India 'A' bounce back in the contest. Just when the hosts looked in control of their chase, Iyer's dismissal gave another opportunity to NZâu00c2u0080u00c2u0088 'A' to come back in the game. The series opener here was washed out.
