Cinephiles were introduced to Tanvi Shah's voice in 2004, when she crooned the critically-acclaimed Fanaa from Mani Ratnam's Yuva. Ever since, the 31-year-old has created foot-tapping music on international shores, even becoming the first Indian to bag the coveted Grammy Award for Best Song Written For Visual Media, for AR Rahman's Jai Ho.

Shah has set foot in India again, and is looking forward to trying her hand at Bollywood, apart from launching an album inspired from her life. "I will not analyse the tracks too much and will go with the flow. If the song makes me happy, I'll include it," Shah tells mid-day, adding that her favourite track of the five to eight-song-album is Make Your Move. "It puts the spotlight on how the success of dating apps has changed our relationships. Gone are the days when people would put in effort to know another person. Today, people don't attempt to break the ice." Having worked with artistes from across the globe, Shah credits producers abroad for attempting to know the singer they are collaborating with. "They have a long chat with the artiste to understand if there is chemistry. They will talk about your culture and music, and will ask you about the sounds you like. Here in India, the attitude is more like, 'C'mon, lets finish it... ek, do ghante mein khatam kar do.' That's not how it is there."
