WhatsApp will soon roll out a new feature for Android with which users will be able to put up colourful text status updates instead of pictures and videos. According to reports, the coloured text status feature is in a testing phase and as of now is available for Beta users. However, do note that whatever features WhatsApp roll out for its Beta users, are not made available to the outside world. But, since a similar feature is available on Facebook for the last one year, so WhatsApp might roll it out for the outside world.

Here is how the new colourful text status feature work- WhatsApp is reported to add a floating pencil button above the camera icon. To put a colourful text status, WhatsApp users need to click on the floating pencil, write the text and click on the ‘green arrow’ icon to upload the status. Along with the new feature, WhatsApp is expected to three more options, select font, add emojis and change the background colour. Use of these options will make the status interesting to read and appealing to look at.

The feature will first appear on Android and will gradually roll out on iOS platform.
